This is my go-to breakfast smoothie. It’s creamy, delicious, and so amazingly nutritious it keeps you going all morning.

I sometimes add the banana, but if you’re new to smoothies, then definitely add it in for the extra creamy sweetness. I do use a lot of the green powders in this smoothie because I think that if I get it in one go in the morning, I know I’ll be feeling the benefits all day. This is super quick to make, you just chuck in all the ingredients, and you’re ready to go.

You can even take it out and have it on your way to work.

So I’ll talk you through all the super greens first. Please don’t be overwhelmed. Iif you don’t live near a health food store, the beauty of the internet is that all these are just a click away, and that’s it, you’re stocked up! I have linked them all, so you need to click through, or various companies do their own greens complex.

The term superfood refers to foods that are nutritionally dense and bioavailable, meaning that the body easily utilises them.

Spirulina has to come very high in the superfood status, as it’s a nutritional powerhouse: it contains all essential amino acids, essential fatty acids, minerals, B vitamins, iodine and phytopigments such as chlorophyll. Just a word about chlorophyll – it is a super powerful antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory, promotes healing and cleansing, is excellent for building new blood, and you’ll be getting a great dose of chlorophyll in this recipe!

Barley Grass and Wheatgrass I love because they contain concentrated amounts of vitamins and minerals and are again high in chlorophyll content.

Hemp Protein gives me a protein boost, while the flax will add extra fibre, which is much needed for proper digestion. The green powders must be introduced gradually, starting with 1/2 tsp of each and building up over a month.

Blueberries are just awesome; I love including them in my diet every day for their amazing anti-oxidant properties; spinach is rich in calcium, iron and beta carotenes, while the banana is high in potassium which is great for heart health and blood pressure. I use coconut water which is rich in electrolytes, and topped the smoothie with hulled hemp seeds for some good fat necessary for the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, E and K and bee pollen which some research suggests may help stabilise weight, increase endurance and decrease symptoms of PMS.

There you go! Wow!!

Are you ready to feel incredible?
