What is the Network Matrix?

The Network Matrix is a simple yet powerful visual tool that maps the key people in your life along two critical axes: frequency (how often you interact with them) and desirability (the quality and impact of the relationship).

This framework (available with worksheets in the toolkit) allows you to see where to amplify your time and where to gently step back. It also helps you get honest about how certain relationships serve (or sabotage) your personal and professional ambitions.

The Four Network Matrix Quadrants:

1. Frequent + Desirable

These are your champions. They see your current identity and celebrate your progress. You trust them, they get you, and time with them is both joyful and expansive.

Action: Keep nurturing these relationships with your time, energy, and gratitude.

2. Infrequent + Desirable

These are your aspirational contacts—people who inspire you, even if you don’t see them often. A former mentor, a wise friend, or a like-minded peer who brings clarity when you connect.

Action: Increase your frequency of contact. A simple message or coffee catch-up could reignite a high-value relationship.

3. Frequent + Undesirable

   
   

This is the tough quadrant. These may be family members, colleagues, or long-time friends who no longer align with your values or growth. You may have little choice but to stay in contact, so the work here is energetic.

Action: Hold strong boundaries. Choose neutrality over reactivity, and don’t over-invest emotionally.

4. Infrequent + Undesirable

These are low-frequency, low-value contacts who may undermine your progress or confidence. They don’t play a big role in your life, so gently letting go is often possible.

Action: Reduce time or remove these relationships entirely. Free up your energy.
