A Conversation That Matters
At this year’s Wayfinders Summit, we explored one of the most urgent conversations at the intersection of finance, technology, and inclusion. I had the privilege of hosting Krista Edmunds, a seasoned finance professional turned Bitcoin advocate, whose conviction and clarity left us both energised and deeply reflective.
Krista opened her session with a bold declaration:
“Bitcoin is one of the most revolutionary technologies humanity has ever seen.”
She placed it alongside fire, the wheel, and the printing press. At first glance, it may sound like hyperbole, until you hear her explain why.
Unlearning Finance: A Wake-Up Call
Krista’s career began at Bloomberg, where she spent two decades immersed in economics and finance. Yet, despite this rigorous training, she admitted that it wasn’t until she encountered Bitcoin that she realised a startling truth: she didn’t fully understand money.
Her moment of awakening came when she asked a simple question during training: "Why do we have inflation?"
The answer she received, “because everybody keeps demanding higher wages”, never sat right with her. It ignored the natural lifecycle of a workforce and the role of technology in making goods cheaper to produce. So what’s really behind the rising cost of living?
Krista laid it out plainly for us when she shared we are no longer on a gold standard. Our money isn’t backed by a finite resource like gold. Instead, governments operate under a fiat system, printing currency at will. More money in circulation, chasing the same or fewer goods, inevitably pushes prices up.
It’s simple, but profoundly misunderstood. And for Krista, recognising this disconnect was transformational.
Bitcoin and Women: Bridging the Gap
Bitcoin is radically different. With a finite supply capped at 21 million coins, it is inherently deflationary. Its value tends to rise over time, unlike fiat currencies that erode under inflation.
For Krista, this wasn’t just theory, it was life-changing. She immersed herself in Bitcoin, and four years later, her conviction has only deepened. Most compelling of all is how she connects this technology to gender equity and women’s financial empowerment.
“Bitcoin is incredibly important for women. Bitcoin offers women a new kind of safety net.”

Why? Because women often face unique realities such as, career breaks for caregiving, reduced lifetime earnings, and smaller retirement savings. These trade-offs, while deeply meaningful, carry financial consequences.
Krista believes Bitcoin offers women a new kind of safety net. By participating in an asset class resistant to inflation, women can build wealth in a system that doesn’t penalise them for stepping back to care for their families.
She acted on this belief by founding Access Tribe, a Bitcoin community for women, designed to demystify the technology and create a safe, inclusive space for financial learning.
In a world where Bitcoin is often dismissed as speculation, Krista reframes it as empowerment. This isn’t about chasing trends, it’s about building a parallel financial system that works for people, especially those historically excluded.
Her call to action wasn’t rooted in fear or hype, but in curiosity and care. She invited everyone, women and men alike, to explore, ask questions, and learn together.
Shifting the Narrative
At Wayfinders Summit, our mission is to spotlight voices that challenge the status quo and spark meaningful change. Krista exemplifies this. She brought technical clarity and emotional resonance to a topic that often feels intimidating. Her story reminds us that transformation begins with a question that doesn’t have a satisfying answer. When we lean into that discomfort, we discover new possibilities, and each other.
So whether you’re crypto-curious or skeptical, approach this conversation with openness. Learn about the systems shaping our economy. Consider how you can be part of shaping something better, for yourself, your community, and future generations.
Because if Krista made one thing clear, it’s this:
Bitcoin isn’t just a financial tool, it’s a pathway to sovereignty.
