Based on the work by Dr Valter Longo, it’s a scientifically designed fast that ‘mimics’ the effects of water fasts by tricking your body into thinking you are abstaining from food.
The Regeneration Diet enables you to eat small amounts of nutritious food - three small meals a day - and enter into a five day fasting state that promotes regenerative changes throughout the entire body.
The meals have been nutritionally designed to replicate the effects of fasting but also focuses on foods that are nutritionally balanced with an emphasis on healing anti-inflammatory foods that your body and gut bacteria will LOVE. The diet reduces inflammation, increases energy levels and targets damaged cells. It also improves skin appearance, reduces weight without affecting lean body mass and has positive effects on a wide range of markers that contribute to aging - including stem cell regeneration.
The prebiotic ingredients in the diet nourish the good bacteria promoting the production of protective anti-inflammatory short chain fatty acids in the gut. Compared to a water only fast, the combination of the small amounts of food and being in a fasting state can help to regenerate and re-populate of the gut microbiome. This is triggered further after you return to a healthy fibre rich diet during re-feeding.
